Solid materials

The right material for every application

Glued wood, untreated

Glued laminated timber (glulam) is an overall cross-section glued together from several layers (lamellas).
The individual pieces of wood made from untreated spruce are dried, scanned for defects, sorted and joined endlessly by finger joints. Several individual lamellas are then glued together in a weatherproof manner.
The components are load-bearing, less prone to cracking or twisting, and are even more resilient than naturally grown wood. Untreated spruce wood must be protected against fungal and insect attack when used outdoors.

Douglas fir, untreated

Douglas fir is resistant to insects and fungal attack due to resins and oils contained in the wood. In addition, the wood has a high surface hardness.
We only use technically dried Douglas fir, some of which is finger-jointed along its length.
If Douglas fir is not treated with glazes, a silvery gray patina forms on the surface over time. This protects against environmental influences without the need for costly wood care.

KVH, untreated

In the case of solid structural timber (KVH), the individual pieces of wood are dried, scanned for defects, sorted and glued together weatherproof by finger-jointing.
We use untreated spruce wood, which must be protected against fungal and insect attack outdoors.
Only specially certified companies are allowed to produce solid structural timber (KVH).

Softwood,
impregnated

Spruce and pine wood is impregnated with metal salts dissolved in water without UV protection, giving it a greenish, later grayish color. Residual moisture may cause resin leakage, cracking or twisting during drying, which is statically harmless.

However, the impregnation against fungi and insects does not contain UV protection, so the surface will turn gray over time. For color treatment, darker shades are particularly suitable due to the impregnation.

Coniferous wood,
untreated

Planed softwood, which is used in its natural form and contains no further processing or additives, is also called solid wood. Exterior softwood must be protected against fungal and insect attack.
Resin leakage, cracking or twisting are a natural process in all woods, but more so in solid wood than in glulam or KVH. Statically this is harmless
